RxForLongBeach.com is a public service created by Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske who is concerned that every Long Beach resident have access to prescription medication.
Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske, is a Registered Nurse Practitioner and Patient Advocate and the former host and producer of the cable tv show "The Patient Advocate." She first learned of the Patient Assistance Programs when she was researching the programs for her show.
Continuing her research, Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske discovered RXforOhio.org -- a website linking Ohio residents to a database of available free prescriptions.
Concerned by the number of Long Beach residents
unable to afford prescription medicines, Councilwoman Schipske decided that a similar website was needed for Long Beach, CA.
After reviewing a number of programs available to
link patients with free and low cost medications, Councilwoman Schipske contacted RxAssist.org, HelpingPatients.org and RxHope.com and asked if they would provide a link so that Long Beach physicians, nurses, social workers and patient advocates could assist patients obtain free or substantially reduced prescription medicines.

What Councilwoman Schipske Wants to Do
The goal of RxforLongBeach.com is to make certain
that every resident of Long Beach, California who
needs prescription medicine -- gets it.
In order to make this happen, RxforLongBeach.com
needs SUPPORTERS who can help get the word
out that this important service is available free of
charge.
Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske wants every physician, nurse and social worker to know about RxforLongBeach.com and to use this resource to help their patients.
Eventually, Councilwoman Schipske would like a volunteer group to assist physicians and patients complete the paperwork to apply for assistance and to be able to answer questions regarding how these program work.
For now, she is focusing focus on getting the word out that these programs are available.
